According to the WeChat official account of China Railway Design Group, the Engineering Management Center of China Railway Group has held a pre station engineering inspection meeting for construction drawing review of the newly-built Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway (including Hangzhou Wenzhou high-speed railway interconnection line) in Beijing.

Earlier, the Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway Zhejiang and Fujian sections respectively issued bidding notices for the total price contracting of station front engineering construction. The bidding documents indicate that the project is scheduled to commence on September 30th. This means that the construction of the Wenfu high-speed railway has entered the countdown.

At present, there is a Wenzhou Fuzhou Railway built between Wenzhou and Fuzhou.

In November 2017, the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued the "Medium - and Long Term Railway Network Plan for Fujian Province", which stated that the designed speed for the Wenfu section of the coastal corridor in Fujian is 250km/h, but the actual operating speed is 200km/h, which is not sufficient to support rapid internal communication within the coastal corridor.

Since 2025, the progress of the Wenfu high-speed railway project has been accelerated.

In early May, the draft for soliciting opinions on the environmental impact assessment of the new Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway was made public.

In late July, the Basic Department of the National Development and Reform Commission announced that the feasibility study report for the construction of the Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway had been approved. The main line of the line is 302.4 kilometers long, with a total investment of approximately 89.7 billion yuan.

On August 19th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment approved the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the line.

Subsequently, the Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway Zhejiang and Fujian sections respectively issued bidding notices for the total price contracting of station front engineering construction. Its preliminary design has been approved by China Railway Group and the governments of Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.

The official website of the Wenzhou Evaluation Office describes in its work updates that the Wenzhou Railway Management Center is accelerating the preliminary work of the Wenzhou section of the Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway, creating a new speed for the preliminary approval of similar projects in China.

According to project data, the main line of the Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway starts from Leqing Station in Wenzhou City, passes through Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province, Ningde City and Fuzhou City in Fujian Province, and ends at Fuzhou South Station. For a double line electrified passenger dedicated line, the design speed is 350 kilometers per hour.

There are a total of 11 stations including Wenzhou East Station, Rui'an East Station, Pingyang Station, Cangnan Station, Fuding West Station, Zherong Station, Fu'an South Station, Ningde Station, Luoyuan Station, Lianjiang Station, and Fuzhou South Station.

The Wenzhou Fuzhou high-speed railway is a key section connecting the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. After completion, the project will greatly shorten the time and space distance between Wenzhou and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. Editor/Cheng Liting
