Recently, the feasibility study review meeting for the new Nanyang Xinyang Hefei railway was successfully held in Nanyang. Zhengzhou Bureau, Wuhan Bureau, Shanghai Bureau Group, as well as relevant units such as Henan Province and Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission, gathered together to provide suggestions and strategies for this highly anticipated high-speed railway project.

The Nanxinhe high-speed railway is strategically located, spanning the southern part of Henan Province and the western part of Anhui Province, like a steel dragon, closely connecting Nanyang and Xinyang cities in Henan Province with Hefei city in Anhui Province. It is not only a new high-speed railway channel connecting the northwest, southwest, and northwest Hubei regions to economically developed areas such as the Yangtze River Delta, but also a convenient passenger artery connecting the southern Henan region to the Yangtze River Delta region. It is of great significance for optimizing regional transportation layout and promoting economic and cultural exchanges between regions.

In terms of coverage, the project covers an area of nearly 100000 square kilometers and directly serves nearly 50 million people, with a wide range of impacts and a large number of beneficiaries. Such a broad coverage indicates that once the Nanxinhe high-speed railway is completed, it will drive the development of many areas along the line, bringing unprecedented opportunities for local residents' travel and economic development.

The progress of the Nanxinhe high-speed railway is orderly. It has been included in the national "14th Five Year Plan" railway planning research project, highlighting its important position in the national transportation strategy. In 2022, the project officially started the preliminary work of survey, design, and feasibility study, laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction. At the end of May 2024, the project successfully passed the pre feasibility review of China Railway Group and entered the feasibility stage, marking a big step forward in the project construction.

According to the preliminary plan, the total length of the newly built Nanxinhe high-speed railway line is about 383 kilometers, of which the Henan section is 374 kilometers long. There are a total of 11 stations along the entire line, namely Nanyang East, Tanghe North, Miyang, Tongbai North, Xinyang East, Luoshan South, Xixian South, Yudongnan New Area (Huangchuan South), Shangcheng, Gushi, and Jinzhai East. In addition, the project also covers supporting projects in Nanyang Hub, Xinyang Hub, and Huangchuan Guangshan area.
