With the deepening of the "the Belt and Road" initiative and the growing demand for regional connectivity, Vietnam Airport Corporation (ACV) proposed to build an aviation logistics center and set up a non-tariff zone at Longcheng International Airport in Tongnai Province, just like a stone on the lake of regional development, which stirred up ripples and brought new opportunities for regional economic cooperation and connectivity.

The logistics center is located within the planned land area of Longcheng International Airport, covering an area of 136 hectares. At the end of 2025, when the first phase of the Longcheng International Airport project is completed, the simultaneous promotion of logistics non-tariff mode coincides with a golden opportunity. This not only conforms to the concept of infrastructure connectivity emphasized by the "the Belt and Road Initiative", but also builds a solid platform for the efficient circulation of regional goods.
From the perspective of economic significance and spillover effects, building this logistics center is a key move to reduce logistics costs in Vietnam. At present, the proportion of Vietnam's logistics cost in GDP is far higher than the global average. Relying on the logistics center of Longcheng Airport, it can shorten the chain of warehousing, transportation and customs clearance, reduce the cost of each order, especially benefit high-value export commodities such as electronic products and drugs, and make Vietnam's products more competitive in the "the Belt and Road" market.
In terms of promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce, with the booming development of global e-commerce, the demand for cross-border express delivery has surged. The establishment of a non-tariff zone and the provision of modern logistics infrastructure in Longcheng will become an ideal choice for an international e-commerce platform, making Vietnam a bridge in the regional supply chain, and promoting trade between countries along the "the Belt and Road". At the same time, the construction of non-tariff zones for logistics, in conjunction with policies such as tax incentives and simplified customs procedures, will attract investors from electronic, pharmaceutical, e-commerce, and logistics enterprises, injecting new vitality into the regional economy.
The logistics center will also bring significant spillover effects to the southeastern region. Longcheng is located in the center of the city, connecting the Gamay Shibu Port, various expressways and the third ring road of Ho Chi Minh City. It has opened a multimodal transport channel of sea road aviation, which not only supports the key industrial zones in the south, but also serves as a national export gateway, strengthening the economic ties between Vietnam and countries along the "the Belt and Road".

International experience has shown that many economic hubs around the world have successfully developed logistics non-tariff zones around airports. Longcheng Aviation Logistics Center can learn from these experiences, make good use of synchronized infrastructure, flexible institutional mechanisms, and comprehensive digital technology, reduce cargo processing costs and time, and form a competitive advantage. Key words: the Belt and Road news and information, connectivity
To efficiently implement this project, it is necessary to clarify challenges and requirements, such as developing a specialized legal framework, building a digital logistics chain system, improving regional connectivity infrastructure, and ensuring national defense and security. If the direction is correct, Longcheng Aviation Logistics Center will become a super aviation logistics hub, expand export space, attract high-quality investment, enhance the resilience of the supply chain, realize the consolidation of economic development and national defense security strength, highlight Vietnam's important position in the global logistics chain, and write a wonderful chapter for the connectivity of the "the Belt and Road".Editor/Cheng Liting
