Finland is actively promoting a series of transportation infrastructure construction and upgrading projects, aiming to comprehensively improve the quality and traffic capacity of the domestic road network, and create better conditions for people's travel and economic development.

In terms of road paving and maintenance, Finland will usher in a large-scale action by 2025, planning to carry out paving and maintenance work on 3100 kilometers of roads. This budget amounts to 365 million euros, an increase of 180 million euros from before. The funds will not only be used for road paving, but also for the improvement of bike lanes and pedestrian walkways, reflecting the emphasis on diverse modes of transportation. The project is supervised by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and managed by the ELY Center. The project will be carried out in 190 cities and 40 projects, involving over 800 different construction sites, and will be implemented by seven contractors. Such a large-scale paving project will significantly improve the smoothness and safety of roads in these areas, providing a more comfortable travel environment for vehicles and pedestrians.

However, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency has also issued a warning that the country needs to rebuild about 4000 kilometers of roads every year to maintain the quality of its road network. This data highlights the enormous pressure Finland faces in road maintenance and the necessity for sustained investment. Continuous road maintenance and upgrading are key to ensuring traffic safety, improving transportation efficiency, and promoting regional economic development.

At the same time, the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications has set its sights on the upgrade project of Highway 9. Highway 9 is crucial for improving traffic conditions in Tampere, Finland's second largest city, and has been identified as a key upgrade target. After receiving financial support, the project is expected to upgrade and transform the highway by widening, leveling the road surface, optimizing traffic signs, etc., alleviating local traffic congestion, improving logistics efficiency between regions, and promoting economic exchanges and development in Tampere and surrounding areas. These transportation construction measures in Finland, whether it is large-scale road paving and maintenance, or targeted upgrading of Highway 9, demonstrate the government's firm determination to improve the level of transportation infrastructure. By continuously improving its road network, Finland will not only provide more convenient and safe travel conditions for its people, but also inject strong impetus into its sustained economic growth, driving the country steadily forward on the dual track of transportation and economy.Editor/Cheng Liting
