On October 10th, 2025, the centralized construction site of major transportation infrastructure projects in Guangxi will be held via video link. The main venue will be located in Fangchenggang City, and sub venues will be set up in four cities including Nanning and Liuzhou. Seven major projects with a total investment of over 71 billion yuan will be launched simultaneously. The concentrated construction this time is not only a key measure for Guangxi to strengthen its role as a "pioneer" in transportation, but also an important milestone in upgrading the infrastructure of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, injecting strong impetus into building a new pattern of opening up to the outside world with "linkage between land, sea, and domestic, and mutual assistance between the east and the west".
The seven projects that have started construction this time have formed a construction pattern of "simultaneous development of water and land", accurately filling the gaps in key nodes of the Western Land Sea New Corridor. In the field of water transportation, the Fangchenggang Port 300000 ton inbound channel project (Phase I), as one of the 102 major projects in the national "14th Five Year Plan", will widen and dredge the existing 200000 ton channel. After completion, the total length of the channel will be 23.1 kilometers, which can meet the one-way tidal navigation needs of 300000 ton bulk carriers and the two-way navigation needs of 100000 ton bulk carriers, laying the foundation for improving the level of bulk material transit hub in Southwest China. The project adopts the "half width construction and half width navigation" mode, deploying large suction dredgers and other equipment to achieve high-precision construction. The total construction period is 36 months, and it is expected to be completed and put into use in 2028. The expansion project of berths 9 and 10 in the Dalanping South Operation Area of Qinzhou Port in Beibu Gulf Port will be upgraded to two 200000 ton container berths, with an annual design capacity of 2 million TEUs, capable of accommodating the world's largest container ships and significantly reducing ocean logistics costs.
The construction of land routes is also highlighted, with five highway projects building a fast network that connects Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, and the Beibu Gulf. Among them, the Longsheng Rong'an section, Rong'an Luocheng section, and Luocheng Yizhou section of G7221 Hengyang Nanning highway are continuously advancing, with a total length of over 200 kilometers and a designed speed of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour. After completion, it will form a longitudinal expressway in Guilin, Liuzhou, and Hechi, and strengthen the high-speed network in northwest Guangxi. The G7522 Guiyang Beihai Highway (Nanning Beihai section) has a total length of 152.92 kilometers and adopts a two-way four/six lane standard, which will strengthen Nanning's radiation and driving effect on the Beibu Gulf urban agglomeration. The Fengling North Road East Extension Expressway connects Nanning Donggao Ring Road and Litang, opening up a new path for the Guizhong region to access the core transportation network.

Autonomous Region Chairman Wei Tao emphasized at the on-site meeting that the implementation of these projects will greatly enhance the core competitiveness of the Western Land Sea New Corridor. From the perspective of actual benefits, the project can not only reduce logistics costs and promote resource development along the route by improving the transportation network, but also directly drive the development of related industries such as building materials supply and equipment manufacturing, providing strong support for stable growth and benefiting people's livelihoods. With the advancement of these "strong foundation" projects, the hub level of the Beibu Gulf International Gateway Port will continue to rise, and the role of the Western Land Sea New Corridor as an important corridor for China's opening up to the outside world will be further highlighted.Editor/Bian Wenjun
