National Highway 110 is undergoing another major upgrade! Recently, a highly anticipated highway construction project plan has surfaced. The overall route of the project is east-west, which will connect some key areas of Bayannur City and Baotou City. It is of great significance for improving the regional transportation network and promoting economic development along the route. The massive construction scale, complex engineering layout, and rigorous schedule planning all demonstrate the significant strategic value of this project.
The main line of the project starts from Haye Hutong at the junction of Bayannur City and Baotou City, connects with the first-class highway of Baotou Dongxing Haye Hutong section of the completed National Highway 110, and ends at the G110 riverside ring road near Maojiaqiao Village, Tianjitai Town, Wuyuan County. The main control points include Heye Hutong, Baiyanhua Town, Gongmiaozi, Wulashan Power Plant, Wulashan Town, Xiaoqiaozi, Xiaocaijiadi, Jiadaozi Village, Pujichan Temple, Dashawo, Mankesu, Fuxing Town, Xiongwanku Village, Zaoheqiao, and Maojiaqiao Village.
The total length of the recommended line is 171.632km, with various construction methods, including 115.254km reconstructed from the existing 110 national highway second-class highway, 50.578km newly built, and 5.8km first-class highway from the 212 provincial highway. The total estimated investment for the project is approximately 8.12 billion yuan, highlighting the importance and complexity of the project with such a large-scale capital investment.

In terms of supporting transportation facilities, four interchanges have been set up along the entire line, including the Heiliuzi Industrial Park, Wulashan, Wuyuan South, and Wuyuan West, to facilitate traffic conversion between different routes. Synchronize the setting of the 10.847 kilometer Bayantaohai connection line to strengthen regional connectivity. The scale of bridge engineering is considerable, with 17 large bridges of 2605.6m, 25 medium bridges of 1695.16m, 34 small bridges of 631.28m, and 164 culverts, providing solid guarantees for the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians. In addition, there are 2 service areas, 2 maintenance work areas, 2 testing stations, and 3 mainline toll stations to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the highway in all aspects.
In terms of technical standards, the main line is constructed according to the standard of two-way four lane first-class highway, with a design speed of 100 km/h, a width of 26.0 m for integral subgrade and 13 m for separated subgrade; The connecting line is constructed according to the standard of second-class highway, with a design speed of 60km/h and a subgrade width of 10m. The vehicle load level for bridge and culvert design adopts Highway-1 level, and other technical indicators are strictly implemented in accordance with the "Technical Standards for Highway Engineering" (JTGB01-2014) issued by the Ministry of Transport to ensure the quality of engineering construction and traffic safety.
The schedule is tight and reasonable, with a planned duration of 36 months. The planned commencement date (subject to the commencement order) is November 1, 2025, and the planned delivery date is October 31, 2028. The actual commencement time is subject to the commencement order. The defect liability period is 24 months, providing long-term guarantee for project quality.
In terms of project bidding, there is fierce competition among various sections. HTSG-1 section, the first place is Inner Mongolia Jiaoke Road and Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., the second place is China Communications First Engineering Group Co., Ltd., and the third place is China Communications Road and Bridge Construction Co., Ltd; HTSG-2 section, the first place is Inner Mongolia Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd., the second place is CCCC Second Highway Third Engineering Co., Ltd., and the third place is Xinjiang Road and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd.
