The bid for the 5.8 billion Qixi Expressway project marks the beginning of a new chapter

The successful bidding of this project will further improve the transportation network structure between Chongqing and Guizhou, and accelerate the process of regional economic integration. After the completion of the project, the travel time between Qijiang in Chongqing and Xishui in Guizhou will be significantly shortened, providing great convenience for the travel and material transportation of the two places, and effectively promoting the development of industries and resources along the route.

The total length of the project is about 60 kilometers, constructed according to the standard of a two-way four lane expressway, with a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour. There are a total of 28 bridges and 12 tunnels along the entire line, with a bridge tunnel ratio of up to 55%. Faced with the complex construction conditions brought by mountainous and hilly terrain, the winning bidder will use advanced bridge erection technology and tunnel excavation technology to ensure project quality and construction safety. The project is expected to have a total construction period of 36 months and is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2027.

From the perspective of industrial linkage, the Qixi Expressway will connect multiple industrial carriers such as Qijiang Industrial Park and Xishui Economic Development Zone, opening up transportation channels for bulk commodities such as building materials, energy, and agricultural products between Chongqing and Guizhou, helping to form an integrated industrial chain of "production transportation sales", reducing logistics costs for enterprises, and enhancing regional industrial competitiveness. In terms of tourism resource development, the project will connect well-known scenic spots such as Gujian Mountain in Qijiang and Danxia Valley in Xishui, build a golden ecological tourism route along the Chongqing Guizhou border, promote the integration of tourism resources and mutual exchange of tourists between the two places, drive the development of supporting industries such as homestays and catering along the route, and inject new vitality into rural revitalization.

At the regional coordination level, this project is an important transportation hub project in the Chongqing Guizhou cooperation plan, complementing the already built Chongqing Guizhou Expressway and Lanhai Expressway, further improving the layout of the expressway network in the southwest region, strengthening Chongqing's role as a western transportation hub in radiating and driving the northern part of Guizhou, and accelerating the integrated development of the economic circle adjacent to Sichuan Chongqing Guizhou Yunnan. At the same time, the project construction period will create a large number of job opportunities, drive the demand for related industries such as construction machinery and building materials, and provide short-term impetus for local economic growth; In the long run, the improvement of transportation convenience will attract more enterprises to invest and settle down, promote the optimization and upgrading of regional industrial structure, and lay a solid transportation foundation for the coordinated development of Chongqing and Guizhou.

From the perspective of ecological and environmental protection, the project construction will strictly follow the green highway construction standards, adopt low-noise pavement technology and slope ecological protection measures, and reduce disturbance to the natural environment along the route. The service area planned and constructed synchronously will integrate environmental protection facilities such as new energy charging piles and sewage treatment systems, creating a "green transportation demonstration project" and achieving the coordination and unity of economic and ecological benefits.

The project will also make breakthroughs in smart transportation construction, with plans to introduce 5G+Beidou positioning technology to build a comprehensive traffic operation monitoring system, achieve real-time monitoring and early warning of road traffic conditions, meteorological conditions, etc., and improve road traffic efficiency and safety guarantee capabilities.

In addition, the project will also focus on the connection with urban planning along the route, strengthening the connection between highways and local roads through the establishment of interchanges, connecting lines, and other means, facilitating the nearby residents to get on and off highways, promoting the two-way flow of urban and rural elements, and assisting in the construction of new urbanization.Editor/BIan Wenjun
