Recently, the bidding work for the construction project of Dongguan's key infrastructure project - Dongguan Tai Road Upgrade and Renovation Phase II (Keyuan Tunnel) has been completed, marking that this project with a total investment of over 1.5 billion yuan is about to enter the substantive construction stage. The project has a total length of 2284 meters and adopts a segmented construction mode. A consortium composed of multiple powerful central enterprises has successfully won the bid.

The starting point of the project is located about 300 meters north of the intersection of Wandao Road and Guansui Road. The route extends southward along Guansui Road, using a full immersed tube tunnel to pass through Dongguan Waterway, and finally connects to the ground north of Guantai Road. The project includes multiple complex engineering contents such as open cut tunnel, immersed tube construction, ramp construction, Wanjiang Bridge renovation, and supporting mechanical and electrical facilities.

This bidding is divided into two contract sections for implementation. The first contract section is approximately 1.19 kilometers long and was awarded to a consortium consisting of China Communications First Navigation Engineering Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Hydropower Rail Transit Construction Co., Ltd. for 974 million yuan. This section is mainly responsible for key node projects such as open cut tunnel engineering, immersed tube construction, dry dock engineering, and Dongguan waterway revetment. At the same time, it is also responsible for supporting projects such as tunnel electromechanical, decoration, and pavement throughout the entire line.

The second contract section is approximately 1.094 kilometers long and was awarded to a consortium consisting of CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. and CCCC South China (Dongguan) Construction and Development Co., Ltd. for 534 million yuan. This section mainly implements open cut tunnel projects, canal ramps, Dongguan Canal cofferdams and revetments, and is responsible for bridge engineering, road engineering, and pipeline relocation within the scope of this section.

The Keyuan Tunnel Project, as a key livelihood project promoted by Dongguan City, has significant construction significance. After the completion of the project, it will effectively divert transit traffic, alleviate traffic pressure at key nodes such as Wanjiang Bridge, and significantly improve the traffic conditions along Guantai Road. At the same time, the project will further improve the urban backbone road network system, strengthen the transportation connection between the Wanjiang area and the central urban area, and inject new impetus into the economic development of the areas along the route.

It is reported that the project is expected to officially start construction in 2025. At present, each winning bidder has started various preparatory work before construction, including construction organization design, personnel and equipment allocation, temporary facility construction, etc., to ensure that the project can be promoted on schedule and with high quality, striving to be completed and opened to traffic as soon as possible, and contributing to the urban development of Dongguan City.
