On November 10, 2025, the China Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Interconnection Demonstration Project will celebrate its tenth anniversary of implementation. This national level cooperation project, launched on November 7, 2015, is the third intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore after Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Ecological City. Over the past decade, it has successfully opened up "five channels" and created a "new model" for high-level connectivity between western China and Southeast Asia.

Five channels work together to build a comprehensive interconnected pattern

The "Five Channels" system formed in the past decade has achieved remarkable results:

As a logistics artery, the Land Sea New Corridor has reached 581 ports in 127 countries and regions around the world, promoting the total import and export volume of the western region to ASEAN to exceed 1 trillion yuan, an increase of 75.3% compared to the initial stage.

The cross-border financing channel has achieved a cumulative financing scale of 21.7 billion US dollars, serving over 100 western enterprises and successfully assisting 10 western provinces and regions in obtaining 6.3 billion US dollars in cross-border funding support.

The international data channel has been built and operated as a "data high-speed railway", which has increased cross-border transmission efficiency by more than three times. It has empowered more than 10 key industries in Chongqing to carry out international cooperation and share channel resources with western provinces.

The Chongqing Singapore air channel has increased the frequency of flights from 5 to 24 per week, resulting in a fivefold increase in personnel exchanges and a sevenfold increase in the number of overnight Singaporean tourists visiting Chongqing over the past decade.

The cultural exchange channel has promoted an annual exchange scale of over 500 teachers and students between the two regions, and the "biweekly" activities have become a shining business card for cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Innovate cooperation models and create a new paradigm of inland openness

Li An, Deputy Director of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Commerce, pointed out that compared with the Suzhou and Tianjin projects, the China Singapore Interconnection Project presents three major characteristics: focusing on the core of "interconnectivity", strengthening the driving effect of the western region, and emphasizing institutional innovation exploration. The project has not only become a landmark achievement of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" between China and Singapore, but also an important platform for the opening up of inland areas in western China.

Zhu Jiang, Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Chongqing, stated that the continuous intensification of the Chongqing Singapore route has significantly improved the convenience of business and tourism exchanges between the two regions. Jing Genyuan, a first level inspector of Chongqing Big Data Application Development Management Bureau, emphasized that the international data dedicated channel provides key digital infrastructure support for western enterprises to carry out international cooperation.

Deepen cooperation areas and expand radiation scope

During the ten years of project implementation, it has successfully promoted the deep integration of logistics, capital flow, data flow, human flow, and cultural flow between western China and Southeast Asia.
