Recently, with the comprehensive launch of the control engineering project - Mucheng Tunnel, the construction of the Chengdu Emeishan Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the Chengdu Emeishan Expressway) project has made a key breakthrough, marking that this transportation artery connecting the Chengdu Plain and the Emeishan tourist destination has entered the full line construction stage. As a key project of the national 14th Five Year Plan, its construction will inject strong momentum into the deep integration of regional economic development and "transportation+tourism".

The Mucheng Tunnel, which started construction this time, is not only the first starting point of the Leshan section of the Chengdu Emei Expressway, but also the "throat" project of the entire line. Its construction has laid a solid foundation for the orderly progress of subsequent projects. It is reported that the tunnel is expected to be completed in August 2027. At the same time, the Qingyi River Grand Bridge, which is also a key and difficult project, is also under planning. The successive breakthroughs of the two key nodes indicate that the construction of the Cheng'e Expressway is pressing the accelerator button.

Cheng'e Expressway is one of the 102 major engineering projects in the national "14th Five Year Plan", and also a landmark project for the construction of the "Great Emei" transportation and tourism integration demonstration zone in Sichuan Province. The total length of the line is 81.5 kilometers, starting from Pengshan District, Meishan City, connecting to the G5 Chengya Expressway, passing through Dongpo District, Danling County, Jiajiang County, and finally ending in Emeishan City. The designed speed is 100 kilometers per hour. This layout precisely fills the gap in the regional road network and forms a fast track leading directly to the Emei Mountain Scenic Area. 

After the completion and opening of the project, its comprehensive benefits will be extremely significant: improving transportation efficiency: it will directly connect Chengdu, Meishan, and Leshan, significantly shorten the time and space distance between the Chengdu metropolitan area and the world-class tourist destination of Mount Emei, and greatly alleviate the traffic pressure on existing roads. Driving the integration of transportation and tourism: As a "tourism highway" that directly connects scenic spots, it will not only undertake transportation functions, but also be entrusted with the mission of serving tourism. By optimizing the landscape design and supporting tourism service facilities along the way, it has built itself into a beautiful scenic road, truly achieving the deep integration of "transportation+tourism" and helping to enhance the level of the "Great Emei" tourism circle.
