At the Economic Development Forum of the Land Sea New Channel held in Chongqing, the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs showed that from January to October this year, the import and export volume of the Western Land Sea New Channel in China reached 1.35 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.9%, demonstrating the vigorous vitality of this international channel.
As an important carrier of the cooperation and co construction mechanism of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, this forum brings together representatives from provinces, regions, and cities along the corridor. Zhao Zenglian, Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Customs, revealed in his opening speech that since 2019, the average annual growth rate of the total import and export volume of provinces, regions, and cities along the Western Land Sea New Corridor has reached 16.9%, maintaining a steady growth trend.
As the earliest functional department to participate in the construction of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, the General Administration of Customs has supported the establishment of 46 comprehensive bonded zones along the corridor and approved the opening of 108 ports. Zhao Zenglian said that these high-level platforms and modern ports provide important support for the construction of the corridor.
Since its official opening and operation in 2017, the Western Land Sea New Corridor has gradually developed from the initial stage of infrastructure construction to the current stage of industrial agglomeration. Under the continuous promotion of customs and other departments, the level of facilitation of channel clearance has significantly improved, and the cross-border trade business environment has been continuously optimized. At present, the destination of the channel has expanded to 465 ports in 120 countries and regions around the world, building a golden channel connecting the Belt and Road Initiative.

With the continuous improvement of channel infrastructure, its radiation effect continues to emerge. At important nodes such as Chongqing, Sichuan, and Guangxi, a group of modern logistics, international trade, high-end manufacturing, and other industries are accelerating their agglomeration. In the first three quarters of this year, the container volume transported through the Western Land Sea New Channel in Chongqing alone reached 245000 TEUs, with a value of over 40 billion yuan, an increase of 32% and 35% year-on-year, respectively.
