Recently, the bidding results for the Ma'anshan dual-use Yangtze River Bridge highway connection extension project of Chaoma intercity railway were officially announced. China Railway Fourth Bureau Group successfully won the construction task of the project, with a bid amount of over 780 million yuan and a total construction period of 420 calendar days. As the core supporting project of the world's largest three tower cable-stayed bridge, the Chaoma Intercity Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge, this bid marks the deep participation of China Railway Fourth Bureau in the construction of the Yangtze River Delta intercity rail transit network, which will inject strong impetus into improving the three-dimensional transportation system in the Anhui River region and accelerating the integration process of the "long triangle on the track".
It is reported that the Chaoma Intercity Railway is an important part of Anhui Province's "Five Vertical and Nine Horizontal" high-speed railway network, and the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Bridge, which can be used for both public and railway purposes, is the controlling project of this line. Its main span reaches 1120 meters, breaking the world record for the span of a three tower cable-stayed bridge. It integrates high-speed railways, highways, and urban roads, and adopts a "six lane highway on the upper level and four line railway on the lower level" public and railway joint construction mode. The highway connection extension project won by China Railway Fourth Bureau is located in Yushan District, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province. It starts from the end of the Yangtze River Bridge highway bridge, connects to the south bank connection of the existing Ma'anshan Yangtze River Bridge, and ends at the Huolishan Avenue interchange. The total length of the route is about 3.8 kilometers, and the main construction contents include roadbed engineering, bridge engineering, pavement engineering, traffic safety facilities, and greening engineering, including one interchange, two separated interchanges, and related supporting facilities.

Engineering construction will face multiple technical challenges and construction difficulties. The terrain and landforms along the project are complex, requiring crossing urban built-up areas, cultivated land, and river areas, and strict requirements are put forward for construction organization and ecological environmental protection. In response to the complexity of cross regional construction, China Railway Fourth Bureau will establish a professional technical team and adopt advanced technologies such as BIM digital modeling and intelligent paving and compaction to optimize the construction process and reduce the impact on the living and ecological environment of surrounding residents. At the same time, as an important transportation project in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the project strictly follows green construction standards and will implement a series of environmental protection measures such as dust control, soil and water conservation, and vegetation restoration to ensure the coordinated promotion of engineering construction and ecological protection.
From the perspective of regional development strategy, the construction of this project has profound significance. The Chaoma Intercity Railway connects Chaohu City and Ma'anshan City, and is a key channel for interconnection between the core area of the Yangtze River Delta and the Wanjiang Urban Belt. The completion of the highway connection extension project will achieve seamless connection between the Yangtze River Bridge and the regional expressway network and urban main roads, greatly improving the traffic efficiency of the cross river channel and shortening the time and space distance between Ma'anshan and the core cities of the Yangtze River Delta, such as Nanjing and Hefei. In addition, the project will further improve the transportation pattern of "smooth internal and external connections" in Ma'anshan City, drive the development of industrial parks and cultural tourism resources along the line, and provide important transportation support for the Anhui River region to undertake industrial transfer and promote regional economic coordinated development.

At present, China Railway Fourth Bureau has started the preliminary preparation work of the project, completed the review of construction drawings, preparation of construction plans, and personnel and equipment allocation. Next, in accordance with the requirement of "starting construction and sprinting", we will quickly advance the preliminary work such as land acquisition and demolition, site leveling, etc., to ensure that the project starts construction on schedule. It is expected that after the completion of the project, it will be put into use synchronously with the main line of the Chaoma intercity railway.
