Global cloud computing giant Amazon Web Services and Saudi Arabia's leading AI company Humain recently reached a strategic partnership, announcing the deployment of up to 150000 artificial intelligence accelerators in a newly built AI zone data center in Riyadh. This milestone cooperation not only marks Saudi Arabia's astonishing entry into the global AI arena, but also drives the Middle Eastern kingdom to achieve its ambition of becoming a new hub for global artificial intelligence.

According to the agreement, AWS will become Humain's preferred global AI partner. Both parties plan to use Saudi Arabia as a base to jointly deliver cutting-edge AI services to global customers. This initiative is a key implementation of AWS's previously announced plan to invest over $5 billion in Saudi Arabia's AI infrastructure, cloud services, and skills development, demonstrating the deep recognition and substantial investment of international technology giants in Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision.

Build the strongest computing power base in the Middle East

The Riyadh AI Zone is officially described as Saudi Arabia's first data center designed specifically for advanced AI training and inference. The facility will adopt a hybrid architecture of Nvidia GB300 supercomputer series and AWS's self-developed Trainium chip, aiming to provide powerful support for various computationally intensive workloads from training large language models to deploying enterprise level AI applications.

AWS stated that the platform will fully integrate its generative AI service suite, including Amazon Bedrock, Agent Core, and SageMaker, enabling customers to easily access a variety of cutting-edge foundational models without the complexity of managing underlying hardware.

Building a complete AI ecosystem

We are building a world-class innovation center that will serve customers in Saudi Arabia and around the world, "said Tanija Landry, Managing Director of AWS Europe, Middle East, and Africa. This statement clarifies Saudi Arabia's pivotal position in the future global AI landscape.

Humain CEO Tarek Amin described this collaboration as the starting point for "embarking on a journey of multi gigawatt class AI computing power," highlighting the project's ambition in energy and computing power scale.

In addition to hardware deployment, the two parties also plan to jointly develop Arabic language models, including Humain's Allam model, and create an AI agent market focused on government services. To support Saudi Arabia's talent strategy, AWS has committed to providing cloud and generative AI skills training for 100000 Saudis, including 10000 women, to support the Kingdom's core goal of increasing its GDP by approximately $130 billion through artificial intelligence by 2030.
