On the eve of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia, which is coming to an end in 2025, a key diplomatic meeting was held between the two countries. On December 14, 2025 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the fifth meeting of the Political Subcommittee of the China Saudi Arabia High level Joint Committee with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal in Riyadh.

Wang Yi stated that the friendship between the people of China and Saudi Arabia has a long history, and both countries have strong endogenous driving forces for development and revitalization. Saudi Arabia is an important member of the Arab and Islamic world, and an independent force in the process of multipolarity. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping, His Majesty King Salman, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed, the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields have been carried out smoothly and healthily. The China Saudi Arabia relationship has increasingly surpassed the bilateral scope and has become more strategic and globally influential. China always regards Saudi Arabia as a priority direction for Middle East diplomacy and an important partner in global diplomatic layout. We are willing to work with Saudi Arabia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, grasp the direction of China Saudi Arabia relations, firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core interests, coordinate cooperation in various fields, continuously enrich the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership, and build China Saudi Arabia relations into a new benchmark for mutual benefit, mutual trust, solidarity and cooperation between countries, and promote the bilateral relations to a higher level.

Wang Yi stated that the two countries will celebrate the 10th anniversary of establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership next year. On this important year of connecting the past and the future, China is willing to further strengthen high-level exchanges with Saudi Arabia, welcome Saudi leaders to attend the second China Arab States Summit in China next year, and look forward to working together with Saudi Arabia to ensure the success of the summit. China is willing to maintain coordination with Saudi Arabia on the preparations for the fifth meeting of the China Saudi Arabia High level Joint Committee, and serve to ensure the success of next year's major bilateral agenda.

Wang Yi pointed out that China and Saudi Arabia are important economic and trade partners for each other. China will further expand its opening-up to the outside world during the 15th Five Year Plan period, which will bring new opportunities for cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia. Both sides should strengthen cooperation in traditional fields such as energy and investment, expand cooperation in new fields such as new energy and green transformation, and create more visual achievements. China welcomes Saudi companies to increase their investment in China, supports Chinese companies to invest and develop in Saudi Arabia, and hopes that Saudi Arabia will continue to provide a good business environment for Chinese companies. Both sides also need to closely exchange in cultural, tourism and other fields, further facilitate personnel exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and deepen the brotherhood between China and Saudi Arabia. China supports Saudi Arabia in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs, and supports Saudi Arabia in hosting the 2030 Riyadh World Expo. We are willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with Saudi Arabia on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the G20, and BRICS, practice true multilateralism, and uphold international fairness and justice.

Faisal stated that the current development momentum of Saudi China relations is good, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is deepening day by day, with fruitful results in practical cooperation. Especially the close interaction between the two heads of state has provided guidance and a blueprint for bilateral relations. Saudi Arabia will unwaveringly adhere to the One China principle and will never support any separatist activities of "Taiwan independence". Indulging in "Taiwan independence" is equivalent to violating the principle of international law of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and to allowing various separatist forces in the world to cause chaos.

Faisal stated that Saudi Arabia highly appreciates China's tremendous development achievements and is willing to have close high-level exchanges with China, learn from China's advanced experience, deepen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, energy, and circular economy, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. The Saudi side is looking forward to the second China Arab States and China Sea Summit to be held in China next year, and is willing to make every effort to prepare for it. It is also willing to actively promote the negotiation process of the China Sea Free Trade Agreement. Welcome more Chinese companies to invest and develop in Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia is willing to provide more preferential policies. The Saudi side highly appreciates the important role played by China in international affairs, especially in adhering to a fair and just stance on issues such as Palestine. Saudi Arabia supports President Xi Jinping's series of global initiatives and is willing to strengthen multilateral communication and cooperation with China to safeguard the common interests of developing countries and work together to promote the process of world multipolarity.

Both sides exchanged views on international and regional issues such as the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
