In Santa Marta, Magdalena Province, Colombia, the Pacific Ocean winds blow over this land year-round, and now, an energy revolution is quietly emerging. China Power Construction Colombia Branch and project owners jointly signed EPC general contracting contracts for three gas-fired power generation projects, Costa, Pengda, and Kaila. The roar of machines is about to replace the solo of sea breeze, pressing the "acceleration button" for local economic development.
Three major projects have been implemented
The Costa, Penda, and Cayla power stations are all located in the city of Santa Marta, with a single station installed capacity of 94 megawatts and a total capacity of 282 megawatts. The project covers the full chain service from design, equipment supply, construction to operation, and is a key power reinforcement project along the Pacific coast of Colombia. After completion, the stability of the regional power grid will be significantly improved, and the long-standing problem of power rationing in the area will be effectively alleviated.

Clean technology escort
The project adopts efficient and clean combustion technology to ensure stable power supply while strictly controlling emissions, achieving a balance between economic development and environmental protection needs. This design echoes Colombia's strategy of promoting low-carbon transformation and also demonstrates the practice of China Power Construction in integrating green genes into overseas projects. In the future, power stations will not only provide electricity, but also become a "model room" for sustainable energy development in the local area.
New fruits of the the Belt and Road
The "three consecutive signings" for gas power plants this time are the 23rd to 25th projects of China Electric Power Construction in the Colombian market, with previous business covering water, housing construction, mining and other fields. From scattered projects to large-scale layout, China Electric Power Construction has gradually become the core force of China Colombia infrastructure cooperation with the advantage of the entire industry chain. The high standard promotion of the project will inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the the Belt and Road.
From water and mining to gas-fired power generation, China Power Construction Corporation continues to expand its presence in Colombia. The landing of these three projects in Santa Marta city will directly alleviate the shortage of electricity for industry and people's livelihoods in the region, interpreting the deep connotation of "mutual benefit and win-win" in China Colombia infrastructure cooperation. The project integrates green concepts and localization needs, adding vivid footnotes to the Chinese technology's entry into Latin America. Editor/Yang Meiling
