In the early morning, Getente Babey, a farmer from Robbie Town, stood by the edge of his moss field, looking at the newly repaired asphalt road with a long lost smile on his face. In the past, during the rainy season, muddy roads made it difficult for his agricultural products to be transported, and he could only watch his harvest rot in the fields. Now, the main IR highway constructed by a Chinese company has been opened, not only allowing his bran to be transported to the Adama market in a timely manner, but also stabilizing his income. Now going to the market is faster, safer, and income is more stable, "Getente Babey said happily.

Difficult road construction in subtropical plateau, drainage reconstruction ensures safety

The project is located in a subtropical plateau climate zone with high annual rainfall and long duration of rainy season. The influence of rainy season can easily lead to roadbed melting and settlement, requiring extremely high requirements for roadbed settlement control. The project department of China Railway Third Bureau carried out systematic drainage reconstruction of the roadbed along the line in the early stage of construction, and built a drainage system combining temporary interception ditches, collection wells, and strong drainage equipment. Through layered filling and continuous rolling, the overall stability and safety of the roadbed and pavement were significantly improved, ensuring that this 75.6-kilometer traffic artery remained strong and reliable under harsh weather conditions.

Localized management cultivates talents, and trilingual communication and technology transmission

During construction, the project department attaches great importance to localized management and talent cultivation. Through a combination of classroom teaching and on-site practical operations, systematic training on safety, technology, and other aspects is provided to local Ethiopian employees. Organize two weekly technical briefings in Chinese, Amharic, and Oromo languages, form 156 pairs of "mentorship" pairs, promote the implementation of Chinese standard technology, and cultivate a total of 230 local technical backbones, including 12 promoted to foreman and 8 serving as on-site engineers, to help Ethiopian people increase income, improve skills, and expand employment channels.

China and Egypt jointly build the "the Belt and Road" to improve people's livelihood and promote development

After the opening of the main IR highway, the travel time from Robbie Town to Adama City has been shortened from 6 hours to 1.5 hours, significantly improving the efficiency of agricultural product transportation along the route, promoting agricultural income growth and farmers' prosperity, and also driving the development of agricultural deep processing and regional trade. Ethiopian National Television has specially produced a documentary on the project, highly praising its outstanding contribution to improving people's livelihoods and promoting economic connectivity. Keywords: the Belt and Road information, traffic news

The completion and opening to traffic of the project is one of the achievements of China and Egypt in jointly building the "the Belt and Road" and deepening practical cooperation, which has strongly promoted the in-depth development of China Africa cooperation.Editor/Yang Meiling
