Recently, the bidding work for the construction of RRTJ06 and RRTJ09 sections of the Rongjiang Rong'an (Guizhou Guangxi border) expressway project has officially started, marking a critical stage of substantive construction for this inter provincial transportation artery with a total investment of up to 12.7 billion yuan.
This road connects the green mountains and characteristic villages of Qiandongnan Prefecture in Guizhou Province on one end, and will pass through Guangxi on the other end, directly reaching the thriving markets of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. Every step of its progress is a vivid footnote to the coordinated development of the region.
A Birth Certificate for One Road
The groundbreaking of any major project requires obtaining a complete "birth permit". The Rongjiang Rong'an Expressway has completed all key approval processes.
The project application report has been approved by the Department of Transportation of Guizhou Province (Qianjiao Planning [2025] No. 4), and the construction drawing design of the main project has also been approved (Qianjiao Approval [2025] No. 418). This means that the technical scheme and construction standards of the project have been approved by authoritative authorities and meet all the conditions for legal commencement.

The project owner is Guizhou Zhongjiao Guirong Expressway Co., Ltd. The construction funds come from project capital and self raised funds, with capital accounting for 20% and self raised funds accounting for 80%. Clear responsibilities and funding arrangements have laid a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project.
From approval to funding, the 'basic framework' of this path is already solid.
72 kilometer development axis
What is the specific structure of this highway? What kind of line will it draw between the mountains and rivers in southeastern Guizhou?
The project is located in Congjiang County and Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, with a total length of 72.267 kilometers. The starting point is located in the south of Rongjiang County, seamlessly connecting to the existing Xiamen Chengdu Expressway through the Rongjiang South Hub; Stretching southeast, passing through several towns and villages such as Tingdong, Xiajiang, Bingmei, Xishan, and Douli; It ultimately ends near Jiefang Tun at the border of Guizhou and Guangxi, and is connected to the Rong'an Congjiang Expressway Phase II project to be built in Guangxi.

The entire line adopts the standard of a two-way four lane expressway, with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. There are a total of 6 interchanges, 1 service area, and 1 parking area. After completion, it will completely change the transportation pattern of towns along the route.
The greater significance lies in that it is a key inter provincial channel in the Guizhou Provincial Expressway Network Plan. After connecting to the Guangxi section, it will form the most convenient land route from Guiyang to the core area of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. Qiandongnan's strategic position as a "bridgehead" connecting to the Greater Bay Area will be unprecedentedly highlighted.
The most difficult and final path to overcome
The bidding for this project is initiated for two strategically significant key sections, which are like the "dragon bones" of a giant dragon, supporting the key sections of the project.
RRTJ06 section: The road is approximately 9.867 kilometers long, from the starting point of Longli Tunnel to the starting point of Ma'anzhai I Bridge. The planned construction period is 30 months, and the estimated contract price is about 1.099 billion yuan. This section of road will undertake complex projects including tunnels and bridges.

RRTJ09 section: The road is approximately 15.337 kilometers long, from the end of Xishan Interchange to the end of the project (Guizhou Guangxi border). The planned construction period is 24 months, and the estimated contract price is about 1.507 billion yuan. This is the 'last journey' to Guangxi, of great significance.
The construction content of both sections covers all main works such as roadbed, bridges and culverts, tunnels, and interchanges, as well as defect liability repair. Their initiation bidding has laid the most solid foundation for the comprehensive construction of the project in the future.
Expectations for a Golden Corridor
The Rongjiang Rong'an Expressway is far more than just a transportation line. Industry insiders point out that it will become a "golden corridor" for activating regional development.
Connecting the "Ren Du Er Mai" of the industry: After completion, it will effectively connect ethnic minority settlements such as Rongjiang, Congjiang, Rongshui, and Rong'an, significantly reducing logistics costs and allowing high-quality specialty agricultural and forestry products from Qiandongnan to quickly move out of the mountains and directly reach the bay area market.

Igniting the 'Green Engine' of Culture and Tourism: The rich ethnic culture and ecological tourism resources in Southeastern Guizhou will usher in upgrading opportunities due to improved transportation. More tourists can conveniently visit Miao and Dong villages, driving the explosive development of the tourism industry along the route.
Promoting regional "collaborative dance": As a new fast connecting line between Guizhou and Guangxi provinces, it will strengthen industrial cooperation and population mobility in adjacent areas, and promote deeper integration of southwestern ethnic minority areas into the economic integration development pattern of southwestern China.
