With the upcoming approval and construction of railway projects such as Yining Aksu and Zhongjiwu, the passenger and freight volume in southern Xinjiang will experience explosive growth. As a key link in the southern auxiliary channel of the Eurasian Continental Bridge, the Southern Xinjiang Railway is not only the main backbone of Xinjiang's railway network, but also the only railway channel for external communication in Southern Xinjiang. However, the current Aksu Kashgar section is still a single track diesel railway, and its transportation capacity is unsustainable. In this context, the launch of the expansion and renovation project of the Aksu to Bachu section of the Southern Xinjiang Railway has become an inevitable choice to solve transportation bottlenecks and ensure the smooth operation of the Silk Road corridor.

In order to fundamentally enhance the channel capacity, this expansion and renovation project adheres to the principle of "equal emphasis on station expansion and facility renovation". The total investment of the project is 470 million yuan, which will add 8 passing stations on the existing line, including Aksusi, Ayikule, Kepingdong, etc., and add passenger high platforms and related cross line facilities to Bachu Station. It is worth noting that while improving transportation capacity, the project also focuses on the remediation of existing facilities such as roadbeds and power lines along the route, and maintains the main technical standards unchanged, achieving maximum efficiency with minimal modifications.

The smooth progress of the project cannot be achieved without solid financial support and meticulous construction organization. The proportion of project capital is up to 70% (330 million yuan in total), which is jointly supported by the central budget investment, ultra long term special treasury bond and self raised funds of China Railway Group, ensuring that the construction funds are in place in full. In the construction bidding, the project is scientifically divided into three sections based on professional nature: S1 and S2 sections focus on the earthwork, bridge and culvert, and track laying operations of the station front engineering, and are respectively won by China Railway 21st Bureau and China Railway 15th Bureau; The S3 section focuses on the "three electricity" projects such as communication, signal, and power supply, and is constructed by the Signal and Communication Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. This specialized segmented model has laid a solid foundation for efficient construction starting in March 2026 with a duration of one year. Keywords: engineering construction, railway construction

The implementation of this project will not only effectively alleviate the current tight transportation capacity of the southern Xinjiang railway, but also provide strong support for the future integration of the China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan railway and the improvement of the southern Xinjiang road network, further consolidating Xinjiang's strategic position as a gateway to the west.Editor/Cheng Liting
