Kazakhstan's logistics ambitions are extending from ground rails to tens of thousands of meters above sea level.
Recently, KTZ, the national railway company of Kazakhstan, confirmed to LS News Agency that its plan to establish a cargo airline has ended its "paper talk" and officially entered the practical stage. The new entity named 'KTZ Air Cargo' has completed registration and is currently working intensively to build its own fleet, making the final push for its commercial debut.

Unlike traditional infrastructure projects that rely on national finances, KTZ has demonstrated strong independence this time - the new company will operate entirely with its own funds and not use a single penny of the national budget. According to the operator, this airline will target the mid to long haul cargo market, not only to build efficient transit transportation routes, but also to become an air ballast stone to enhance supply chain stability. This model of using one's own money to accomplish great things is seen as a crucial step in the commercial operation of Kazakhstan's logistics industry.

The ambition of multimodal transportation is not just about "passing by"
The layout of air cargo transportation is actually an air link of Kazakhstan's overall logistics strategy.
The National Railway Corporation is well aware that simple freight transportation is no longer sufficient to support it as a regional hub. Therefore, KTZ Air Cargo's vision is not only for freight transportation, but also to foster new service formats through the development of multimodal transport, especially last mile solutions in the e-commerce field.
The long-term plan of this strategy is to upgrade Kazakhstan from a simple Eurasian corridor to a core node in the value chain. According to official predictions, with the steady growth of cargo volume and the improvement of aviation infrastructure, the country is expected to become one of the top ten air cargo centers in the region. This is not only about ranking, but also about tangible economic dividends: new job opportunities, tax revenue growth, upgrades to airports and storage facilities, and magnetic effects on investment in the transportation sector. When the railway tracks and air routes intersect here, Kazakhstan is trying to redefine its coordinates in the global supply chain with a logistics network that is interconnected between heaven and earth.Editor/Cheng Liting
