On February 27, 2026, Kyrgyzstan's first national conference of 2026 opened at the Unity Palace. President Zaparov attended and delivered a speech, systematically summarizing the achievements of governance from 2021 to 2025 and deploying the country's future development direction.

Zaparov stated that five years ago, the country was impacted by the pandemic, faced economic pressure, and financial difficulties, resulting in a lack of public confidence. In the past five years, the country has achieved rapid development, defined as a snow leopard leap economic miracle. The GDP has increased from 8.3 billion US dollars in 2020 to 22.6 billion US dollars in 2025, with significant growth in multiple fiscal indicators such as taxes and customs revenue. The average annual economic growth rate has exceeded 10% in the past four years, international reserves have exceeded 10 billion US dollars, and sovereign credit ratings have steadily improved.

After the nationalization of the Kumtor gold mine, it brought stable income to the national finance and became an important economic pillar. At the same time, the border issues between Kyrgyzstan and neighboring countries have been comprehensively resolved, and the border has shifted from a conflict line to a cooperation line.

In the field of security, the country's strong departments have completed reforms, national defense equipment has been updated and upgraded, and the treatment of law enforcement personnel has been significantly improved. The anti-corruption campaign has recovered a large amount of state-owned assets, significantly improved social security, and significantly reduced crime rates.

In terms of people's livelihood, thousands of households have achieved housing through policy loans, nearly a thousand schools, hospitals and other social facilities have been newly built and renovated, pensions have doubled, infrastructure such as roads and airports have been accelerated, and the level of people's livelihood security has continued to improve.

Breakthroughs have been made in major projects, and the construction of the entire China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan railway line will reshape the Eurasian logistics landscape; The energy projects such as Kambalata 1 hydropower station are steadily advancing, and the country is expected to become an electricity exporting country. The Issyk Kul tourist resort, industrial enterprises, and modernization of agriculture are developing synchronously, and the self-sufficiency rate and export scale of agricultural products have significantly increased.

Zaparov proposed the 2030 development goals, striving to steadily increase the total economic output, per capita GDP, and human development index, and enter the forefront of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals globally.

He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan insists on opening up to the outside world, protecting legitimate business operations, strictly prohibiting unwarranted intervention in the market and suppressing investors, resolutely cracking down on corruption, and eliminating the abuse of power for personal gain and political manipulation.

Zaparov also announced that Kyrgyzstan will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Bishkek in August this year, and will also host the 40th anniversary of the Issyk Kul Forum and the World Nomad Games, continuously enhancing its international influence.Editor/Bian Wenjun
