At around 00:00 local time on February 27th (7:00 Beijing time on the 27th), a freight train departed from Ferenc train station in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, marking the official start of freight transportation on the Hungarian section of the Hungary Serbia Railway.

The director of the Hungarian Eurasia Center, Levent, stated in an interview with CCTV reporters that previously, trains between Budapest and Belgrade took 8 hours to travel, but after the full opening of the Hungary Serbia railway, the journey will be shortened to about three and a half hours. Nowadays, the north-south Hungary Serbia railway will better connect the Central and Eastern European regions, strengthen the connectivity between Hungary and neighboring countries, improve the travel conditions of residents along the line, and promote economic and social development.

The Hungarian section of the Hungary Serbia Railway was jointly constructed by the affiliated units of China Railway Corporation and the Hungarian subsidiaries. It is a landmark project of the "the Belt and Road" jointly built by China and Hungary and a flagship project of cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries. It is also the first successful connection between China's railway technology and equipment and the European Union's Technical Specifications for Railway Interconnection (TSI).

The Hungary Serbia Railway connects the Hungarian capital Budapest and the Serbian capital Belgrade. Among them, the Hungarian section has a total length of about 158.6 kilometers, connecting Budapest and Clebio, and groundbreaking will begin in 2022. The line adopts a mixed passenger and freight operation mode, which is a double track electrified railway with a designed maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour.Editor/Bian Wenjun
