When the first ray of sunshine in the morning fell on the Gobi at the edge of the Sahara, representatives of the Moroccan State Electricity and Drinking Water Authority and the Sustainable Energy Agency signed a heavy document - the power purchase agreement for the Nur Atlas photovoltaic project. This agreement not only marks the official launch of the construction of six photovoltaic power plants, but also a solemn commitment made by a North African country to a clean energy future.

Six power stations, nationwide layout
Nur Atlas photovoltaic project is a strategic clean energy project in Morocco, consisting of six photovoltaic power stations, which are widely distributed in many regions of the country. Specifically, it includes the Ain Benimatal power station located in Gerada province, the Budnib power station in El Rashidia province, the Buanan power station in Figuig province, the Enjel power station in Buleman province, the Tata power station in Tata province, and the Tan Tan power station in Tan Tan province. The total installed capacity of the six power stations reaches 305 megawatts, forming a regional clean energy network covering the north and south, which will bring a continuous stream of green electricity to local residents and industries.
International cooperation, multi-party financing
The smooth progress of the project cannot be achieved without the collaborative support of multiple international forces. At the financing level, Deutsche Bank and the European Investment Bank provide preferential loans, while African banks provide commercial financing, forming a diversified funding guarantee system. The project construction adopts the EPC general contracting mode, which is jointly undertaken by a consortium composed of Moroccan and European enterprises. This cooperation mode not only ensures the quality and progress of the project, but also promotes the transfer of advanced technology, promotes local industrial development, and creates a large number of employment opportunities. The project is operated and maintained by the Moroccan Sustainable Energy Agency to ensure long-term stable operation. Keywords: Photovoltaic news and information, Photovoltaic infrastructure

Energy transition, the future is promising
According to the plan, these six photovoltaic power stations will be put into operation gradually from July 2027. Their construction will significantly enhance Morocco's clean energy supply capacity, improve the quality of power supply in remote areas, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For Morocco, which has long faced energy import dependence, this is a crucial step in solving the energy crisis and reaping development dividends. The project fully aligns with the strategic direction of energy transformation and sustainable development in the country, and also leaves broad cooperation space for Chinese enterprises to participate in the local new energy market with technological advantages and mature experience.Editor/Gao Xue
