On April 29, 2026, CEEC officially launched the 100 MW solar thermal+800 MW photovoltaic integration project in Wumatang Township, Dangxiong County, Lhasa, Xizang. The project is located at an altitude of 4541 meters. It is not only one of the highest solar thermal power stations in the world, but also the first solar thermal power project that CEEC focuses on its main responsibility and makes independent investment in Xizang, which deeply reflects the strategic determination of central enterprises to implement the Party's strategy of governing Tibet in the new era and help Tibet develop in a high-quality way.

The planned installed capacity of the project is 900 megawatts, using CEEC's proprietary 8.6-meter large opening, pure molten salt, and trough type concentrated heat collection technology. The core highlight lies in the configuration of a 6-hour molten salt thermal storage device, which can achieve continuous power generation at night, with excellent peak shaving performance and reliable basic power support, effectively solving the intermittent problem of photovoltaic power generation. The innovation of the photovoltaic sector adopts a "complementary development model between agriculture and photovoltaics", achieving a three-dimensional compatibility between photovoltaic power generation and ecological animal husbandry, and achieving a two-way empowerment of ecological and industrial benefits.

After the completion of the project, the annual production of green electricity will reach 1.56 billion kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to saving about 469000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.2512 million tons. This data not only demonstrates the enormous environmental benefits of the project, but also effectively optimizes the regional energy structure and serves the green and low-carbon transformation of the autonomous region. Keywords: new energy projects, solar thermal projects

As a benchmark for new energy development in high-altitude areas, the project injects strong momentum into the realization of the national double carbon goals, and becomes a model practice for central enterprises to serve the national strategy with technological innovation and promote the construction of clean energy bases in Xizang.Editor/Cheng Liting
