China Energy Engineering Group Northwest Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. The consortium led by the company has successfully won the EPC general contracting project for the 1×350000 kW cogeneration project of Shengli Power Plant, embarking on a new journey of green transformation and upgrading for this old power plant.

Shengli Power Plant was founded in 1988 and is the largest power generation enterprise of Sinopec. It is also the core self owned power plant of Shengli Oilfield, responsible for the production and living electricity of the oilfield and the centralized heating of Dongying area. The power plant has a total installed capacity of 1.7 million kilowatts and a heating capacity of 25 million square meters, making it an important power and thermal support base in the Yellow River Delta. After three phases of construction, the factory has put into operation a total of 5 cogeneration units. Among them, two 220000 kilowatt units in the first phase have been in operation for 34 years and have exceeded their service life, urgently needing to be updated and replaced.

The winning bid project is located in the Shengli Power Plant area of Dongying City, Shandong Province. It will build a new 350000 kW ultra supercritical extraction condensing cogeneration unit, and provide supporting facilities such as chimneys, cooling towers, chemical water workshops, and advanced environmental protection facilities, replacing the two old units in the first phase as a whole. The project is closely aligned with the national dual carbon strategy, Shandong Province's coal power transformation and upgrading plan, and Dongying City's carbon peak implementation plan. It is a landmark project for the renovation and transformation of Shengli Power Plant, as well as an important measure to promote oil production through electricity and ensure green supply. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to generate 1.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, save about 75000 tons of standard coal annually, significantly reduce emissions of pollutants such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, and significantly improve energy utilization efficiency. While ensuring stable power supply for Shengli Oilfield, the Dongying regional heating guarantee system will be optimized, injecting strong green power into the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Delta.Editor/Gong Ziwei
