Silk Road partners hand in hand and collaborates to create a new chapter

On March 19, 2026, the key energy project of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the first phase of the China Pakistan Cooperation Photovoltaic Power Station in Gwadar Port, Pakistan, was officially connected to the grid for power generation. The total installed capacity of the project is 500 MW, which is an important green energy support project in Gwadar region, marking a new stage of China Pakistan new energy cooperation, and injecting strong momentum into the construction of the the Belt and Road South Asia Hub.

The photovoltaic power station is located adjacent to Gwadar Port, and after being put into operation, it can provide stable and clean electricity every year, meeting the electricity needs of over one million households in the local area and effectively alleviating the power shortage problem in southern Pakistan. At the same time, the project provides Gwadar Free Trade Zone, port logistics and port vicinity industries with all-weather, low-cost, green and low-carbon energy security, significantly improves the operation efficiency and industrial carrying capacity of the park, and helps Gwadar Port build an important logistics hub and industrial cluster center in the Belt and Road South Asia.

Energy cooperation has always been an important lever for the interconnection and mutual benefit of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. From traditional energy to green photovoltaics, from project cooperation to benefiting people's livelihoods, this power station is not only a demonstration project for clean energy transformation, but also a vivid portrayal of the all-weather strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, providing solid support for regional economic development, improvement of people's livelihoods, and industrial upgrading.
