The representative of Xinjiang Shihong Energy Co., Ltd. shook hands with the head of the delegation and officially landed a new independent energy storage project with a capacity of 500MW/2GWh. On the Gobi Desert in southern Xinjiang, an energy storage power station equivalent to a large power bank is about to rise, which will charge during low demand periods and discharge during peak demand periods, injecting stabilizing power into the regional power grid.

1.4 billion investment in energy storage construction

Xinjiang 34th Regiment and Xinjiang Shihong Energy have officially signed a cooperation agreement to launch the construction of a new independent energy storage project with a capacity of 500MW/2GWh. The total investment of the project is about 1.441 billion yuan, with a planned land area of 200000 square meters. The main construction content includes 2500 square meters of factory buildings and 1500 square meters of administrative buildings. At present, the preliminary work has been basically completed, including special investigations on geology, forestry and grassland, environmental protection, etc. The project is scheduled to start construction in October 2026 and achieve grid connected power generation in June 2027.

Two gigawatt hours for regulating capacity

This energy storage station will serve as an important regulatory resource for the regional power grid, charging during low demand periods and discharging during peak demand periods, enhancing the flexibility and stability of the power system. Its 2GWh energy storage capacity is equivalent to a large power bank, which can effectively support local new energy consumption and help optimize the energy structure. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to generate an annual operating income of over 200 million yuan, pay tens of millions of yuan in taxes annually, and provide more than 100 job opportunities, achieving a win-win situation of economic and social benefits.
