On March 23, 2026, a notice of selection from Xizang Changdu Development and Reform Commission reached China Resources Power Sichuan Company across thousands of mountains and rivers. The one line notice extends China Resources Power's clean energy footprint to the snowy plateau for the first time - successfully winning the development rights for a 500MW integrated wind and solar project in Gongjue County. From Sichuan Basin to Changdu, Xizang, this central enterprise has not only crossed the geographical space, but also the capability boundary of developing new energy in complex natural environment and sensitive ecological areas.

500 MW wind solar complementary

According to the Letter of Acceptance, the project is located in Gongjue County, Changdu City, Xizang Autonomous Region, with a planned total installed capacity of 500 MW and a wind solar complementary development model, including 150 MW for wind power and 350 MW for photovoltaic power. The wind solar complementary mode has unique advantages in high-altitude areas, where wind power and photovoltaics naturally complement each other day, night, and season, maximizing smooth power output and enhancing grid capacity. After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to generate approximately 1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, saving about 306400 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 839500 tons. The energy-saving and emission reduction benefits are significant.

Zero breakthrough advancing into the plateau

This successful bidding marks the breakthrough of CR Power in the development of clean energy market in the Xizang Autonomous Region. The implementation of the project is of great significance to optimizing the energy structure of Changdu and Xizang, ensuring power supply, and promoting the overall green transformation of economic and social development. As one of Xizang's strategic initiatives to build a national clean energy base, the project will inject strong green momentum into the snow covered plateau. China Resources Power Sichuan Company will sign the project development agreement within 30 days after receiving the notice in accordance with the requirements of the Changdu Development and Reform Commission, and immediately carry out various preliminary work in an orderly manner.
