Standing at the new starting point of the successful completion of 102 major projects in the 14th Five Year Plan, the 109 major projects in the 15th Five Year Plan have become the key lever for implementing the planning outline. This vast system focuses on six major areas, among which energy infrastructure and future industries are particularly impressive.
In the field of energy, major projects aim to forge a foundation for safe and resilient development. The world's largest hybrid pumped storage project in the Yalong River Basin is currently in a critical period of concrete pouring, and its integrated water, wind, and solar base will rely on three major super reservoirs to drive large-scale development of wind and solar energy; The 3 million kilowatt photovoltaic project in Tengger Desert, Gansu Province, integrates sand prevention and control technology to help the construction of the new energy base in the Sage Desert. By 2030, with the capacity of West East power transmission increasing to over 420 million kilowatts, the proportion of non fossil energy consumption will reach 25%, providing solid support for the dual carbon goal.

In the field of cutting-edge technology, major projects focus on cultivating new quality productivity. The artificial solar project in Hefei, Anhui is accelerating the installation of giant D-shaped superconducting coils. It is expected to start fusion combustion experiments in 2027 and build the first engineering experimental reactor in 2035. At the same time, 28 leading future industrial projects such as low altitude economy, quantum technology, deep sea and deep space are seizing the high ground of future development through the improvement of industrial basic capabilities and the cultivation of new tracks.
These 109 projects not only include hard investment, but also integrate soft construction, reflecting the institutional advantage of concentrating efforts to accomplish great things. From the 156 key projects during the First Five Year Plan period to the current strategic planning, major projects have always been the cornerstone of national development. Through cross departmental and cross regional collaborative operations, these projects will transform long-term strategic blueprints into tangible realities, providing strong guarantees for the comprehensive national strength enhancement and improvement of people's livelihoods in the next decade or even longer.Editor/Cheng Liting
