Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Zumanjalin's remarks have caused a stir in the cross-border logistics industry. The Gisht Kuplik border checkpoint, which was closed for maintenance in early February, finally has a clear timetable for reopening. This checkpoint, which is stuck at the throat of Central Asian commerce, will be fully cleared in the autumn.

Restart daily traffic of 70000 people in September

The Jishtkuprik Port will officially reopen in September 2026, operating in sync with the Hafang Ribezoli checkpoint. According to the plan, after opening, 70000 people and over 2000 vehicles can be released daily, completely ending the border obstruction caused by maintenance. The detention time of vehicles has been significantly reduced, resulting in a corresponding decrease in transit costs.

Annual increase of 20 million tons for supporting railways

The Darbaza to Marktalar railway will be completed and put into operation simultaneously within the year, becoming a new artery for cross-border freight transportation between Kazakhstan and Ukraine. This route directly increases the annual turnover of goods between the two countries by 20 million tons, and elevates the transportation capacity of bulk commodities and industrial products. The car checkpoint from Marktalar to Sildaria is also operating simultaneously, and the railway, highway, and customs are woven into a seamless intermodal network. Targeting a trade target worth billions of dollars

The dual upgrading of ports and railways this time is driven by the billion dollar reciprocal trade goal set by the leaders of Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Both sides are simultaneously promoting the construction of international industrial cooperation centers and working on developing a roadmap for cooperation in the fields of petroleum refining and petrochemicals. The physical expansion of logistics channels is adding a stronger engine to the economic and trade balance between the two countries. Editor/Gao Xue
