Opening the project schedule, the timeline is clear and tight. In April 2024, the feasibility study report prepared by Yangtze River Design Group was reviewed by the Water and Electricity Institute, and the technical route was granted a pass. In November of the same year, the soil and water conservation plan was approved; In December, the project was officially approved by the Development and Reform Commission of the autonomous region, with a total investment of 10.713 billion yuan locked in. By March 2025, the environmental impact assessment report will be approved, and all prerequisite documents will be collected.

1.4 million kilowatts peak shaving Tianshan
The power station is located in Dabancheng District, Urumqi, about 85 kilometers away from the city center, with a planned installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts and four 350000 kilowatt reversible units. The designed annual power generation is 1.983 billion kilowatt hours, and the annual pumping capacity is 2.644 billion kilowatt hours. The regulating capacity of the upper reservoir is 7.71 million cubic meters, the lower reservoir is 7.7 million cubic meters, and the rated head is 520 meters. After completion, it will specialize in peak shaving and valley filling, energy storage and frequency regulation of the Xinjiang power grid, and convert fluctuating wind and photovoltaic power into stable and controllable high-quality electricity.
