Recently, the first batch of two ART vehicles in Sarawak, Malaysia have successfully completed various testing work in China and are now ready for delivery to the capital of Sarawak, Kuching. This also means that the Kuching urban transportation system project has made significant progress in this stage.

These two ART vehicles, known as the Golden Train, are expected to arrive in Kuching in the second quarter of 2026. Recently, Mazli Mustafa, CEO of Sarawak Metro, led the company's technical team to Yibin, China to conduct final inspections of ART vehicles at the vehicle manufacturer's factory.

The purpose of this trip to China is to verify the overall preparation status, production process quality, and compliance with the relevant specifications of the project before the vehicle is shipped. Mazli said, "We are delighted that the 'Golden Train' is about to arrive in Kuching, and everyone is looking forward to starting trial operation later this year. This will take us another big step towards providing a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transportation system for the people of Sarawak." He further added that Sarawak Metro Company will do its utmost to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of the Kuching urban transportation system project, and sincerely thank the public for their support and cooperation all along. After these two trains arrive in Sarawak, they will go to Kuching KAAF to complete the relevant assembly work. Afterwards, the train will be transferred to the ART depot of Rembus in Kota Samarahan for on-site testing to ensure comprehensive preparation for the trial operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.Editor/Gong Ziwei
