Infrastructure is the core support for promoting economic transformation. Ghana and Hunan Provincial Architectural Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. of China have officially signed an infrastructure cooperation agreement, focusing on cooperation around the implementation of the 24-hour economic plan. This is not only a key measure for Ghana to promote industrialization and achieve export upgrading, but also an important layout for Chinese enterprises to expand the African infrastructure construction market, with both economic value and strategic significance.

Focus on corridor construction

Recently, Ghana and Hunan Provincial Architectural Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. officially signed a cooperation agreement at the 24H+Secretariat of the Presidential Office, establishing a strategic partnership centered on spatial planning, infrastructure design, and technical cooperation. The focus of this cooperation is the construction of the Walter Economic Corridor, a flagship project that will connect key production areas such as Tema, Akosombo, Afram Plain, and Tamali, creating Ghana's first net zero green economic corridor.

According to the agreement signed by both parties, Hunan Construction Institute will provide overall planning, spatial design and other related technical support for the corridor development zone, and introduce innovative financing models such as EPC+F and EPC+I. The project implementation will adopt a pilot first approach, starting with the construction of 2 industrial parks and 3 agricultural ecological parks. Currently, the agreement has officially come into effect, and the focus of work has shifted to the detailed engineering design and implementation stage.

24-hour economy requires strong support

Currently, Ghana is making every effort to promote the 24-hour economic plan, with the core goals of achieving economic transformation, promoting industrial upgrading, and accelerating export growth. However, issues such as weak infrastructure and high energy costs have severely constrained the progress of this plan, with particularly evident problems of power supply shortages and outstanding grid carrying capacity in regions such as Hatron.

This cooperation between the two sides draws on the transformation experience of Hunan Province in China - the key to Hunan's successful transformation from an agricultural center to an industrial hub lies in scientific spatial planning and sustained infrastructure investment. Ghana will adopt a similar priority planning model, relying on the Volta Economic Corridor to integrate agricultural, industrial, and transportation systems. In addition, the African Development Bank has provided support for the feasibility study of the transportation system in the corridor. After completion, the project is expected to directly create over 500000 job opportunities, accurately meeting Ghana's development needs. Keywords: Ghana, Hunan Jianyuan, Walter Economic Corridor

Realize bidirectional empowerment

The core purpose of Hunan Provincial Architectural Design Institute's layout in the Ghanaian market is to export its technological advantages and infrastructure construction experience, with a focus on the planning and layout of agricultural ecological parks, industrial parks, roads, water supply systems and other infrastructure within the corridor, to help Ghana improve its investment environment and promote steady industrial growth. At the same time, through the innovative financing methods of EPC+F and EPC+I, private capital is mobilized to participate in project construction, effectively reducing project funding pressure. By relying on the knowledge transfer mechanism and deeply adapting to the local development needs of Ghana, we aim to enhance the professional capabilities of Ghanaian professionals while further strengthening our competitiveness in the African infrastructure construction market, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results, and helping Ghana improve its manufacturing competitiveness and complete its economic transformation.Editor/Gong Ziwei
