On May 11, 2026, the President of Turkmenistan met with a visiting senior delegation from Malaysia, including the executive team of Petronas. This meeting comes at a time when the two countries have been cooperating for thirty years, from the development of the Caspian Sea oil field to the cultivation of professional talents. The cooperation between the two sides in the field of energy has yielded fruitful results.

Over the past thirty years, Petronas has carried out large-scale oil and gas extraction projects in the Caspian Sea area of Turkmenistan, successfully developing multiple oil fields and cultivating a group of oil and gas professionals in the local area, injecting sustained momentum into Turkmenistan's energy industry.

During the visit, Turkmenistan Petroleum Konzern and a subsidiary of Petronas Malaysia reached a product sharing agreement commercial terms protocol for the development of the licensed block in the Caspian Sea, laying a legal and commercial foundation for future cooperation.Key words: the Belt and Road, project frontline
