Tanzania is accelerating the process of industrialization and energy transformation. A large-scale industrial project with a total investment of approximately 3 billion US dollars will be launched in Bagamoyo Special Economic Zone, with plans to assemble the first batch of CNG powered heavy trucks locally. This project is jointly promoted by HWTZ TISEZA and the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zone Authority, with the participation of relevant Chinese industry investors in the construction. The project is located in the Bagamoyo Eco Maritime City Special Economic Zone, covering an area of approximately 500 hectares, and will create a comprehensive manufacturing base covering commercial vehicles, motorcycles, fishing equipment, and components.

Promote the upgrading of the automotive industry
The total investment of the project is about 3 billion US dollars, making it one of the largest industrial investment projects in Tanzania in recent years. After the completion of the project, a complete natural gas commercial vehicle industry chain will be built, promoting the upgrading of the local automotive industry from simple assembly to independent manufacturing. In terms of production capacity planning, the project is expected to achieve the first batch of heavy-duty trucks offline by the end of 2026, with an initial production of about 450 CNG heavy-duty trucks. The annual production capacity is expected to increase to over 5000 vehicles in the future. At the same time, the project will also build a vocational training center to provide manufacturing skills training for local young people, which can create over 5000 direct employment opportunities and drive the coordinated development of upstream and downstream industries.
Assist in the transformation of green economy
Tanzania's investment agency stated that this project is a key initiative for the country to promote the replacement of traditional fuels with natural gas and develop green industries. Relying on the abundant natural gas resources in our country can not only reduce fuel costs in the transportation industry, but also reduce carbon emissions and enhance the overall competitiveness of the industry. At the same time, relevant enterprises are actively expanding into the CNG commercial vehicle market. Local vehicle manufacturing companies have launched CNG truck import plans to promote the application of clean energy in logistics transportation and further improve the domestic automotive industry ecosystem. Industry analysis believes that this project not only makes Tanzania an important commercial vehicle manufacturing center in East Africa, but also has the potential to promote its transformation from an energy exporting country to an energy+manufacturing dual driven economic structure, enhancing regional industrial influence.Editor/Gong Ziwei
