Recently, a 21 day direct journey from Nansha Port to North Africa and a 25 day arrival in Benghazi, Libya is changing the logistics rules for China's transportation to North Africa. The 80000 ton multi-purpose ship Guoyun Haiyun, under COSCO Shipping Bulk Transport Co., Ltd., has made its maiden voyage. It is not a traditional container liner or ordinary bulk carrier, but an amphibious player that can flexibly switch between container and bulk cargo modes. The first voyage will load about 1000 containers from Nansha, mainly consisting of construction machinery, vehicles, and building materials, and arrive at the Misrata Free Zone Port in Libya for unloading. The return trip is planned to load dry bulk cargo such as minerals and agricultural products, achieving a return journey.

The flexibility of the 80000 ton multi-purpose ship provides new opportunities for return cargo. The supply of space for traditional container ships returning from North Africa is extremely unstable, and empty container shortages are the norm. And Guoyun Sea Ship can use its bulk cargo space to transport bulk commodities such as minerals and agricultural products, providing more stable transportation support for exporters. The port of call covers major domestic ports such as Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, and Nansha, while the destination covers Benghazi and Misrata in Libya, and extends to Port Said in Egypt, radiating to North Africa and the eastern coast of the Mediterranean.
