Recently, the key transportation project in Anhui Province, Hefei Donghang Port Project, has successfully passed the completion acceptance. After being put into operation, it will effectively enhance the regional water transportation transit capacity and reduce the logistics costs of hinterland enterprises. Since its establishment in 2018, the container throughput of Anhui Port has continuously surpassed three levels: 1 million, 2 million, and 3 million TEUs. Its operating revenue has exceeded 20 billion yuan, its total assets have jumped by 60 billion yuan, and its total profit ranks among the top inland port enterprises in China.

Weaving a dense high-grade waterway network
Anhui Port and Shipping Anchor One Vertical, Two Horizontal, Five Trunk, and Twenty Nine Line Mainline Navigation Network Planning, with a cumulative investment of 37.2 billion yuan to promote the construction of key water transportation projects. As of now, Anhui Port and Shipping has newly renovated 753 kilometers of waterways, 9 ship locks, and 71 dock berths. The mileage of fourth level and above high-level waterways ranks fourth in the country, connecting 72 counties and districts, 23 national level development zones, and 67 provincial-level development zones in the province, covering 71% of the total planned mileage of the province. The dense waterway network has continuously enhanced the radiation capacity of Anhui's water transportation, allowing goods to directly reach the core area of the Yangtze River Delta through waterways, effectively connecting the golden waterway of the Yangtze River with the inland hinterland economic belt.

Building a new pattern of logistics services
Anhui Port and Shipping has pioneered a shared cabin management model for the Wuhu to Shanghai route on the Yangtze River mainline, and has fully implemented a coordinated unloading and customs supervision model from five cities along the Yangtze River in Anhui and Hefei to Shanghai, achieving one declaration, one inspection, and one release, saving more than 30% of transportation capacity and reducing enterprise logistics costs by nearly 20%. In February 2026, the first water transfer cargo in Anhui Province was successfully shipped from Wuhu Port. There are 70 container shipping routes, ranking among the top in inland rivers in China. Jointly with Chery and Jianghuai, a provincial-level ocean going roll on/roll off transportation platform has been established, with three 7000 car LNG dual fuel ocean going roll on/roll off ships put into operation. The routes cover 70 hub ports in 40 countries, helping car companies reduce logistics costs by more than 30%. Since 2018, the proportion of Anhui's water transportation freight volume to the total social freight volume has increased to 37%, and the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP is 1 percentage point lower than the national average, saving a cumulative logistics cost of 48 billion yuan. Cultivate a new engine for open development
Anhui Port and Shipping has undertaken 74 engineering projects in 22 countries along the the Belt and Road to promote technology, standards and services to the world. The first cross basin multi channel ship lock joint dispatch center in China will be established, with a total of 418 million tons of ships passing through the lock by 2025. The first newly-built container unmanned automated terminal on the Yangtze River in Wuhu Port has been put into operation, and the first 3000 ton inland pure electric container ship in China has been stably operated. The construction of the first 13000 ton methanol electric ship in China has also begun. We have independently developed a waterway multimodal transportation network freight platform, with a shipment volume of over 25000 and a transaction volume exceeding 1.3 billion yuan. It has been selected as a pilot case for the construction of a strong transportation country. Anhui Port and Shipping is continuously strengthening its container and roll on/roll off dual channels in the direction of integration, greening, digitalization, and internationalization, and deepening the integration of ports and shipping in the Yangtze River Delta.Editor/Gao Xue
