The second West East pipeline is expected to be put into operation in 2027, which will double ADNOC's oil export capacity through Fujairah. Against the backdrop of the Iran War, global energy supply continues to be under pressure, and the energy transportation flow in the Strait of Hormuz is still severely restricted.

The pipeline aims to bypass bottlenecks
In order to expand its oil export capacity and avoid the key transportation bottleneck of the Strait of Hormuz, Abu Dhabi is accelerating the construction of a new east-west oil pipeline to Fujairah. Abu Dhabi is currently making every effort to promote the construction of the second West East pipeline, with the core goal of exporting crude oil bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The project is expected to be officially launched and put into operation in 2027, which will double the crude oil export capacity of ADNOC Abu Dhabi.
At the time of the launch of the second pipeline project, global energy supply was still under considerable pressure, and the flow of crude oil transportation in the Strait of Hormuz was severely restricted. Multiple attacks on energy infrastructure and shipping also reduced the UAE's ability to restore normal crude oil production.
Call for accelerated construction
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan called on Friday to accelerate the construction progress of the pipeline project to meet the growing global energy demand. The Crown Prince stated at the ADNOC Executive Committee meeting that ADNOC, as a responsible and reliable global energy producer, has a solid foundation for development. Subject to export restrictions, the company has operational flexibility to responsibly increase production and meet market demand. ”

Earlier, the United Arab Emirates announced its withdrawal from OPEC. The country joined the organization in 1967, even before the formal establishment of the United Arab Emirates. In recent years, the United Arab Emirates has continuously made large-scale investments through ADNOC, committed to enhancing its own crude oil production capacity. Before the outbreak of the Iran War, the UAE's daily crude oil production was slightly over 3 million barrels, which basically met the quota target of OPEC+. Abu Dhabi had previously set a goal to increase its crude oil production capacity to 4.9 million barrels per day, but due to the impact of the war, the country's actual daily crude oil production has now dropped to about 1.8 million to 2.1 million barrels. Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline,Adcop, Also known as the Habshan Fujairah oil pipeline, it is currently the only pipeline in the United Arab Emirates that can bypass the Strait of Hormuz to export crude oil, with a maximum transport capacity of up to 1.8 million barrels per day.Editor/Gong Ziwei
