[South Africa bets $1.35 billion on LNG] The South African National Ports Authority has signed a 25 year terminal operation agreement with Ukwanda LNG to construct an onshore LNG regasification facility at the Ngula Port, with a total investment of approximately 22 billion rand, including 2 billion rand dedicated LNG berths, with the goal of full operation by 2035. This project is a core component of South Africa's Fair Energy Transition Plan, which will support a 3 GW natural gas power generation quota to supply gas to the Koka Special Economic Zone. It is expected to produce approximately 3.5 GW of electricity, create over 500 jobs during the construction period, and provide 50 permanent jobs upon completion. Editor/Cheng Liting
