Recently, drones flew over the Gobi Desert located in Delingha City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. CGN's Delingha 1 million kilowatt solar thermal storage integration project is unfolding on the plateau wilderness. Tens of thousands of heliostats are arranged in a circular pattern, following the sunlight to accurately track and gather heat. The beams converge towards the towering heat absorbing tower, like a mirror ocean on the Gobi Desert. This project combines photovoltaic power generation with tower type solar thermal molten salt energy storage technology, and is expected to have an annual on grid electricity output of 1.8 billion kilowatt hours.
