Two China Europe freight trains slowly departed from Shijiazhuang International Land Port, loaded with goods and heading overseas. As a leading hub for China Europe regular trains in North China, it is busy with traffic and freight. Relying on a stable and smooth international logistics channel, it continues to help the region open up and deeply integrate into the the Belt and Road construction.

The scale of high-speed freight trains has doubled

On June 9, 2026, two China Europe freight trains departed from Shijiazhuang International Land Port, loaded with light industrial products, machinery and equipment, and daily necessities, with destinations in Russia and Uzbekistan respectively. Since the opening of the China Europe freight train service in 2018, the freight volume of this hub has increased by over 660 times in seven years. At present, the land port has opened 18 international freight routes, and the transportation network extends to more than 50 countries and regions in Europe, Central Asia, and ASEAN.

Liu Yinpeng, General Manager of Hebei International Land Port Co., Ltd., introduced that only 4 trains were operated in 2018, and the annual operating volume has exceeded 1200 trains by 2025. In 2026, the train will continue to maintain a high-speed growth trend, with the proportion of high value-added goods such as mechanical equipment and photovoltaic modules continuously increasing, and the quality of train operation steadily improving.

Based on location, expand overseas channels

Shijiazhuang International Land Port is located in the hinterland of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei metropolitan area, radiating to multiple cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Taiyuan, Zhengzhou, and Jinan. The manufacturing, light industry, and new energy industries are concentrated in the region, and the supply of goods is very abundant. In the past, local inland foreign trade enterprises mainly relied on long-distance road transportation to coastal ports for exporting goods, which not only had high transportation costs but also often encountered road congestion problems. Nowadays, the local China Europe freight train has opened up the main artery of inland external logistics, and local specialty products such as Pingxiang strollers, Dingzhou fitness equipment, Suning fishing rods, Qinghe cashmere, etc. can be exported to various parts of Asia and Europe through the train.

With the continuous increase in total freight volume, the efficiency of port clearance has also been optimized synchronously. The intelligent customs checkpoint in the park can automatically identify the container number, and the entire vehicle passage takes less than ten seconds, making inspection and release efficient and convenient.

Optimize services to enhance clearance efficiency

Liu Yu, Deputy Director of Luquan Customs under Shijiazhuang Customs, stated that the local implementation of the railway express operation mode allows export goods to be inspected and released at the origin, and then directly loaded and shipped upon arrival at the exit port. The overall clearance time can be shortened by one to two days. Combined with convenient measures such as round the clock appointment for customs clearance, logistics time and operating costs have been further reduced, helping various products in Hebei to smoothly enter the international market. The freight volume in the first five months of 2026 has exceeded 850000 tons, surpassing the total freight volume in the first eight months of 202.Editor/Gong Ziwei
