Recently, the Jingjiang Municipal People’s Government website released a public announcement on the stability evaluation of the social stability risk assessment decision of the Zhanggao River Crossing Project (Jingjiang Section). It is reported that the Zhanggao River Crossing Project has a total investment of about 25 billion yuan and plans to start construction in 2021.

The Zhanggao River Crossing Channel is about 28 kilometers downstream of the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge and about 16 kilometers upstream of the Shanghai-Sutong Bridge. The project starts from Zhangjiagang Shugang Expressway and the morning and Yangtze Interchange, enters the Yangtze River on the west side of Zhanggao Automobile Ferry, passes through Mazhou Island (Minzhusha), enters Rugao Central Branch, and makes landfall at Huatai Heavy Factory District, and ends at G40 Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway , The length of the route is about 30km. The project passes through the three cities of Zhangjiagang, Jingjiang and Rugao.

The Zhanggao River Crossing Project uses a bridge to cross the Yangtze River. The project adopts highway standards, with eight lanes in both directions for the river-crossing section and six lanes for the connection section. The design speed of the cross-river section is 100 km/h, and the design speed of the connection section is 120 km/h. There are 4 interchanges on the whole line, 2 on the south bank and 2 on the north bank, namely Chenyang Interchange, Zhangjiagang North Interchange, Rugao South Interchange, and Shizhuang Hub Interchange. The total construction period is 5 years, and it is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2026.

After the Zhanggao River Crossing Channel is completed and put into use, it will further improve the regional road network of Jingjiang City, improve the traffic conditions in central Jiangsu, and greatly promote regional economic and social development. Editor/He Yuting
