On September 15, according to the information posted on the website of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, the U.S. Treasury Department issued a statement, claiming that it would impose a charge against China Union Development Group Co., Ltd. in accordance with the Global Magnitsky Bill of Rights and relevant administrative orders of the U.S. government. Sanctions are imposed on Cambodian projects.
As we all know, the "Cambodia Comprehensive Investment and Development Pilot Zone and the Seven Star Sea Tourism and Holiday Special Zone Project in Cambodia" is a large-scale comprehensive project approved by the Cambodian government and invested by Youlian Development Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Chinese private enterprise Tianjin Youlian Group. The project complies with Cambodian laws and regulations and has contributed to the promotion of Cambodia's economic and social development.
Disregarding the facts, the US government invoked its domestic law to impose sanctions on Chinese-funded projects in Cambodia on unwarranted charges, which is a naked hegemonic act. The US's suppression of the legal investment of Chinese-funded enterprises in Cambodia has not only harmed the legitimate rights and interests of related enterprises, but has also grossly trampled on Cambodia's sovereignty.
The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia strongly opposes and condemns this. We urge the US to immediately correct this wrong approach and revoke the so-called sanctions. (For reprint, please indicate see Tao.com www.seetao.com) See Tao.com Editor/Xu Shengpeng
