On December 30, 2020, China Railway Construction issued an announcement that China Railway 18th Bureau successfully won the bid for the Jindia tunnel project in the first section of the railway project from Maribaya Port to Simandou Mine in Guinea, and achieved major operations in the Guinea market through dry promotion breakthrough.
The contract value of the Jindia Tunnel Project is RMB 1.579 billion and the contract period is 34 months. The owner is Simandou Win Alliance. The total length of the tunnel is 11.65 kilometers. It is a two-single tunnel with the national railway's first-class standard. The maximum buried depth is about 520 meters. Long tunnels are of great significance for Chinese companies to accumulate experience in long tunnel construction in Africa.
It is understood that the Masai Railway is 555.53 kilometers in length and is the first railway running east-west through Guinea. It is also an important supporting project for the development of the Simandou No. 1 and No. 2 ore blocks in Guinea. After the completion of the Masai Railway, it will become an important transportation channel for the export of Guinea's iron ore and will drive the economic development of Guinea on a larger scale.
The successful bid for the Jindia tunnel project is a vivid practice of China Railway 18th Bureau actively implementing the "Overseas Priority" strategy of China Railway Construction and implementing the "Four Integrations". In the next step, we will continue to maintain our advantages in construction, implement various controls on safety, quality, progress, and environmental protection, and build a Chinese corporate brand image in the overseas railway market.
