At 3:16 in the morning on January 11, 2021, the Daxi Tunnel, the first tunnel of the Lanzhou-Zhangye Third and Fourth Line Railway, was successfully completed, which marked a significant progress in the construction of the Lanzhou-Zhangye Third and Fourth Line.

Daxi Tunnel Project

Daxi Tunnel is located in Datong Town, Lanzhou City, close to Jinlonggou Bridge and Daxigou No. 1 Bridge. The length of the tunnel is 373.2 meters. It is a single-hole double-line loess tunnel with a maximum buried depth of 48 meters and large terrain undulations. The vegetation on the slope of the tunnel entrance and exit is sparse, loess caves are developed, and the engineering geological conditions are poor.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Project Department of China Railway Eighth Bureau, the Daxi Tunnel officially entered the tunnel on June 27, 2020. In order to open the tunnel as soon as possible, the builders adopted the CRD method of excavation in the shallow buried section of the tunnel, and the remaining sections adopted the three-step temporary inverted arch and the three-step reserved core geotechnical method. The tunnel was excavated from the exit to the entrance, and the construction was reversed to ensure that the tunnel construction was on schedule. Finished.

It is understood that the newly-built Lanzhou-Zhangye third-fourth railway line is about 518 kilometers long with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It will be led from Lanzhou West Station in Lanzhou City, passing through Wuwei City, Jinchang City, and finally into Zhangye West Station in Zhangye City. Zhongchuan Airport Station, Shilakou, Yongdeng West, Tianzhu West, Heisongyi, Gulangbei, Wuwei East, the golden section of the ancient Silk Road-Hexi Corridor.

After the completion of the new Lanzhou-Zhangye third-four-line railway, it will become the second high-speed rail passage from Lanzhou to Xinjiang. By then, the layout of the high-speed railway network in the western part of Gansu Province will be greatly improved, and the rapid formation of the Hexi Corridor express passenger passage in Gansu Province will be promoted.
