Recently, the Bahrain Ministry of Transport (MTT) has started a public-private partnership plan for a 109-kilometer urban rail transit network. It is reported that Bahrain plans to hold a global market response roadshow for international engineering companies in the first week of March. Subsequently, the global bidding process will be announced and supervised by KPMG.
Bahrain Metro Project
The total construction of the Bahrain subway project will reach 2 billion US dollars, with a total of 4 lines, which will be developed in phases.
Among them, the first phase of the project includes two lines, the red line and the blue line, with an estimated total length of 28.6km, including 20 stations and two transfer stations, connecting Bahrain International Airport and the main residential, commercial and school districts.
Bahrain announced the subway project as early as 2008, and it was planned to start in 2009, but the project was delayed due to the impact of the global financial crisis in 2008. In 2018, consulting company IDOM completed the feasibility study of the project, and the project once again made new progress. Editor/Tian Zengpeng
