Azure Power has signed the largest power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a grid-connected solar power project with a capacity of 2,333 megawatts. The transaction follows the 600 MW power purchase agreement signed under the same tender in November, with a total capacity of 4 GW.

India's new energy development status

The project developed under the latest PPA will supply electricity at a fixed price of approximately 3.3 cents per kilowatt hour for 25 years. These projects are planned to be developed in Rajasthan, which has the best sunshine rate in the country. Grid connection approval is in place, and land acquisition is underway.

The capacity is planned to be put into use in stages, reaching 1,000 megawatts by November 2024, 1,000 megawatts by November 2025, and 333 megawatts remaining by November 2026. Keywords: engineering construction, engineering news

Azure Power also stated that its second 200 MW wind-light hybrid power generation project received a letter of approval from Maharashtra Power Distribution Co., Ltd. Azure will provide electricity at a fixed price of 3.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for 25 years. The project will include the development of up to 133 megawatts of solar and 67 megawatts of wind energy within 18 months. The solar capacity is planned in Rajasthan and the wind capacity will be in Maharashtra.Editor/XingWentao
