Saudi Arabia's energy minister said that Saudi Aramco, an oil giant, had discovered two unconventional gas fields, Awtad and Al Dahna, in the eastern province of the country. Awtad was found in the southwest of Ghawar Oilfield, 142 km southwest of Hofuf City, while Al Dahna was found 230 km southwest of Dhahran.

The importance of these findings lies in strengthening the Kingdom's natural gas reserves, which will help support the Kingdom's strategy and achieve the objectives of the liquid fuel replacement plan, said Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman, Minister of Energy.

Natural gas flows out of Well Awtad-108001 at the rate of 10 million standard cubic feet per day, 740 barrels of condensate per day, and from Well Awtad-100921 at the rate of 16.9 million standard cubic feet per day, 165 barrels of condensate per day.

Natural gas flows from Well AlDahna-4 at a rate of 8.1 million standard cubic feet per day, from Well AlDahna-370100 at a rate of 17.5 million standard cubic feet per day, and 362 barrels of condensate per day.

The current pressure on global natural gas supply has led to energy shortages in several developing world regions that rely on imported natural gas, especially Pakistan and Bangladesh. At the same time, the main growth markets of natural gas, such as India and China, will significantly reduce LNG imports in 2022.

Rystad Energy said in a report in August that, with the deepening of the global energy crisis and countries seeking reliable energy, investment in new LNG infrastructure will surge, reaching 42 billion US dollars annually by 2024. Saudi Arabia's statistics agency said last month that Saudi Arabia's economy grew by 8.6% in the third quarter of 2022, driven by rising oil prices and government reform. Gastat said oil activity grew 14.5%, up from 9.3% a year ago. However, this is down from the 22.9% surge in the second quarter of 2022. Saudi Arabia's oil activities include crude oil, natural gas and refining activities.Editor/XingWentao
