The light rail is 21.39 kilometers long and adopts Chinese technical standards. It is the first fully automated rail transit line in Central Asia.

Kazakhstan National Railway Company has signed contracts with CRRC Dalian and CRRC Ziyang respectively, covering locomotive procurement, overseas factory construction, and full lifecycle services. CRRC Dalian will establish a locomotive production and maintenance center, CRRC Ziyang plans to supply 150 CKD6H hybrid locomotives, and promote the first overseas certification of China's new energy locomotive standards. In addition, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan signed a $5.8 billion agreement with PetroChina to expand oil production, and other cooperation also involves infrastructure, energy, agriculture and other fields.
