RWE, a German energy company, announced plans to expand its solar business to the UK by developing a 600MW solar energy project. Twain Bridge Solar Farm, located between Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, will host solar power generation, battery storage, onshore wind energy and animal husbandry. The project will support one of the largest lowland sheep farms in the UK and is expected to start operations in 2029.

Katja W ü nschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe and Australia Offshore Wind and Solar, said that the combination of solar energy and battery energy storage is very suitable for the UK development portfolio of RWE. We have met 15% of the country's energy demand. Our strategy is oriented towards sustainable development, and the large-scale expansion of solar energy will become part of these ambitions.
The project will be located next to RWE's existing Tween Bridge onshore wind farm, and a capacity agreement has recently been reached with the State Grid. After the environmental scope report of the project is submitted to the Planning and Inspection Bureau, it will start a detailed environmental survey. The company has started early negotiations with landowners and planning authorities to inform them of the design and layout of the site.

Rhine Group said in its statement that it is committed to meaningful consultations with local communities and other stakeholders, and is expected to hold informal consultations in the spring of 2023. Once the proposal is finalized, RWE will submit an application for a development consent order to the Planning Inspection Bureau to seek planning permission. Keywords: overseas news, engineering news

Grimsby Center provides professional services for its offshore fleet, while creating employment opportunities and apprenticeships for local communities. RWE has acquired Western Power Offshore Developments, an Irish company that is currently developing the East Celtic wind farm project off the coast of Ireland.Editor/Xing Wentao
