At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2026, the reporter asked: WDO was established this week. The establishment of this professional organization in the global data field in Beijing, China has attracted high attention from the media and industry. What is the spokesperson's comment on this?

Mao Ning: The world is accelerating into the era of intelligence, and the strategic value of data as a core production factor and innovation engine is increasingly evident. At the same time, there is an imbalance in global data development, fragmented rules, and uneven distribution of digital dividends. WDO aims to bridge the data gap, unleash the value of data, and promote the prosperity of the digital economy, providing a beneficial platform for deepening international cooperation and improving data governance.

WDO's settlement in Beijing fully reflects the international community's recognition of China's level of data development. By 2025, China's total data volume will rank first in the world, its digital economy will remain second in scale, and its digital infrastructure and application scenarios will lead the world. China actively promotes global data governance by proposing the Global Data Security Initiative and the Global Cross border Data Flow Cooperation Initiative.   (This article is translated from the Chinese Embassy in Russia)Editor/Gong Ziwei
